A children’s charity, which aims to provide one-off grants to underprivileged children in North Kirklees, has been launched recently at the Salvation Army Citadel in Batley.
Let June Make a Difference was founded in memory of June Dewhirst, who dedicated her life to helping young people. The charity, based in Mirfield, provides grants of up to £500 for children, aged 7 to 17yrs, who face financial or other challenges. The grant can be spent on school supplies, medical equipment or a special trip that would be otherwise unaffordable.
Applications can be made to the charity from professionals or accredited personnel working in the interests of the child and will be allocated at regular intervals throughout the year.
The trustees are working closely with local intermediaries including the Kirklees Faith Forum, C&K Careers and the Integrated Youth Support Services of Kirklees to promote the charity throughout the region.
