A number of organisations are running activities and events for children and young people. They are:
Sports Works North CIC run group sessions designed for young people (aged 8-19) with disabilities and additional needs to enjoy a variety of sports and make new friends in a fun, relaxed and supportive environment. These take place in term time and in school holidays at 2 locations (Dewsbury and Linthwaite, Huddersfield). FREE taster session, then session fee £5

Compass Bridge Ltd, Elland gives disabled children aged between 8 and 19 the opportunity to engage in various day activities, including climbing (indoors and outdoors), canoeing, horse riding, go-karting, bush craft, steam railway, farm visits, canal barge trip, countryside walks and woodwork projects. Transport is provided with pick-up points in Dewsbury and Huddersfield. Session fee £8 term time, £15 holidays.
They are running a Saturday session every two weeks in term time from 9 am to 1 pm (weather permitting)

Bumpy Ltd gives young people (aged 8 to 19)an opportunity to take part in passenger ‘pilot buggy’ and ‘quad’ rides around the 9 acre off-road venue in Birstall which has both smooth and rough terrain. There is also an opportunity for solo quad riding for those who are able or motor cycle riding if the young person has balance and fine motor control skills. Alongside the provision, workshop skills are also offered, to see working parts, learning the names of components and experience the sensory touch and smell around engine parts. Session fee £5

Sprout (Growing Works) provides outdoor based sessions for children/young people with a disability or additional needs alongside their siblings and parent/carers. The activities will be inclusive of all ages, abilities and disabilities. The sessions focus on the whole family having fun together and will include growing vegetables and flowers, outdoor cooking and eating, wildlife activities, woodland crafts, creative arts, heritage crafts and non-competitive sporty games.
Every Saturday during term time 11 am to 1 pm at Crow Nest Park, Heckmondwike Road, Dewsbury WF13 2SG – all ages. Session cost: £5 first child; £2 additional children max £9 per family (first visit free)

Central Youth Club The Rising Stars youth club will run once a week throughout the year, the youth club will give disabled children and young people aged 8 – 19 years opportunity to take part in activities which include dance, sport, fitness and cooking.

Shabang! The Up Club
Shabang The Up Club is not only a social and drama club for children aged between 8 and 19 who have Down’s Syndrome but also gives children with Down’s Syndrome an opportunity to be amongst their peers. The club will take place at Shabang’s home base The Watershed in Slaithwaite which also provides a second space for parents and siblings to wait/play/socialise if preferred.
Takes place on Mondays during term time, 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm at The Watershed, 22 Bridge Street, Slaithwaite , HD7 5JN
