The CAMHS – Child and Adolescent Mental Health – team is planning a new support service for children who have a learning disability and where there are concerns for a child’s mental health.
CAMHS has asked for help from parents to plan parts of the service. I’m attaching a flyer with details of a session we are holding on the morning of SATURDAY MARCH 10 in Huddersfield where parents and staff from CAMHS can work together to think about what is best for children, young people and families, and how the new service can best support families. Icarus are going to help us during the session, to make the best of the time together and keep us all focused.
We know that the notice period is not as long as we would ideally like to give you, but the PCAN trustees felt this was a really good opportunity to be in at the beginning of planning a new service which will benefit local children.
We hope very much that some of you will be able to join us at the session. I should stress that this is particularly relevant for parents of children with learning disabilities who have either had concerns, or are worried, about their children’s mental health, as it is this combination of needs which the new support service will focus on.
Do please take a minute to read the flyer, and, if you wish to be involved, please let us know by using the attached booking form. If you have questions to ask to decide whether to come along, by all means ring on 07754 102336.
