WACKY is an activity programme and we welcome all young people with a disability however we do not have staff to provide one to one or two to one support. We would encourage you to come along with your personal assistant/carer if required; this has been the case over many years and has worked really well. .
The cost of WACKY is £10.00 per person per day. Payment by card, cheque or cash is acceptable. Cheques should be payable to Kirklees Council. It is not possible to give refunds though for non-attendance.
Please ring the office on 01484 225952 and ask for admin to pay by card. A packed lunch & drink will be required each day and a small amount of spending money for tuck shop. Kirklees Adult Social Care information workshops
Some of you will be aware that Kirklees Adult Social Care has obtained funding from the Local Government Association, to investigate what carers and people within the adult social care system struggle to access in terms of information about their individual care and support. This is part of a wider programme of research being conducted nationally and we are keen for Kirklees to have a prominent voice.
We know that people can find it difficult to, for example, check when their next assessment is, what respite allowance they have left or what they are paying in contributions. People also experience frustrations when trying to do things like update their contact details or who can speak on someone’s behalf. We have a real opportunity to understand more about these type of issues and think about designing a system that can give people easier access to these things. We need people who have been there and experienced these journeys to give us their insight and help us come up with some solutions.
We are holding two workshops with our research partner, Lagom Strategy, to look at these issues and we would very much value your input. We can provide assistance to attend or participate if you need it, and travel expenses will be reimbursed on the day. If you are able to make it to one of these sessions please follow the appropriate link and book on via Eventbrite:
Huddersfield Media Centre: Wednesday 24 July 2019 10am to 1pm https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/adult-social-care-personal-information-workshop-huddersfield-tickets-65036792798
Dewsbury Town Hall: Monday 29 July 2019 10am to 1pm https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/adult-social-care-personal-information-workshop-dewsbury-tickets-65087889630?aff=ebapi
If you are unable to make it to either session but would like to be involved in this project, we are also looking for people who can take a phone call from Lagom to talk about their experiences of accessing their information. If you would be willing to have one of these conversations please let us know at AdultsTransformationProgramme@kirklees.gov.uk with an indication of when is a good or bad time to call. Thank you for reading and for your interest in shaping the future of adult social care in our district.
