Carers Allowance exempt from benefit cap!

In yesterday’s House of Lords debate the Government announced it will change the law to exempt all carers in receipt of Carer’s Allowance from the benefit cap.
Since the benefit cap was first announced in 2010 Carers UK have campaigned for changes to the rule so it does not unfairly penalise carers.
The announcement came in response to an amendment tabled by their Vice President Baroness Pitkeathley, following a landmark ruling from the High Court on carers affected by the benefit cap.
