NHS North Kirklees Adult Hearing Services survey

NHS North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group is reviewing the Adult hearing services that are currently provided by Specsavers and Novus Health at venues across North Kirklees. They provide an assessment and treatment for people that are experiencing hearing loss.

The service sees over 800 new patients a year and runs over 700 follow-up appointments a year. The contract for the service is due to end on the 31st March 2016 and they are now looking at how the service will be provided in the future.

They want to hear feedback from the public, patients, carers and stakeholders to ensure your views are fully represented in decisions about the planning and delivery of health services. If you would like share your views on what would be important to you in the new adult hearing service, please complete the survey which is available online athttps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AdultHearingServices.

The closing date is Monday 7th September 2015.

Please note, they are working with Healthwatch Kirklees on this project and will be sharing the feedback we receive with them.

Manchester Airport – Support for families with children on the Autistic Spectrum

Travelling through an airport can be stressful for children on the Autistic Spectrum, especially when it’s a break in their routine and they are unsure of what to expect.

Manchester Airport have produced booklets to take you on the journey through Manchester Airport, using photographs to explain the process you will take. It has been divided into the various stages of your journey through the airport, describing what you will see and hear, from arriving at the airport, going through security and through to returning back home.

In each section there is a tick box for you to interact and engage with your child in the sights and sounds along your journey through the airport. They have also launched an accompanying video which can be viewed at www.manchesterairport.co.uk. There is space at the back of the book for your child to jot down any worries they may have and also a fun zone to fill time when you may be waiting around.

To help make your time at the airport as stress free as possible for you and your child, you can now request a free wristband for your child to wear which entitles the child wearing it, and all accompanying members of the party, to use the fast-track security lanes in each terminal. Simply call or email to request one at least a week before you plan to travel.
