Kirklees Council Local Area SEND Inspection – please take part

Kirklees Council will be having its Local Area SEND Inspection next week. This is an inspection connected with how the Council supports children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) since the Children & Families Act came into force in September 2014. We have included a copy of the letter from CQC/Ofsted below and the links to a survey and an email address where you can send information if you wish. A short video telling you what the inspection is about can be found at the beginning of the survey.

The focus of the inspection will be how well the various departments in Kirklees Council have carried out the requirements of the above Act.

A couple of us have completed the survey and it takes about 10 to 20 minutes depending on how much you want to say in the free text boxes.

There will be some events where you may get chance to meet the inspectors:

If your child/young person attends any of the following, watch out for a letter or call from them with more information:
Castle Hill School, Newsome High School, Woodley School, Royds Hall, Windmill Primary, Kirklees College.

PCAN will also be holding a Zoom event next Tuesday 8th February 11.30 am to 1 pm where you can share your views with one of the inspectors.  Although we are hosting, the inspector will direct the event.  Numbers are limited so please book quickly if you know you can attend.  It would still be really helpful to fill in the survey.  You should have received the letter below already from your child’s education setting.

Email address if you wish to send further information (lasend.support@ofsted.gov.uk)

Please note that the inspectors can’t follow up or comment on individual cases/issues.

CAMHS Survey 2021

Message from Kirklees Council:

Have you / or your child used the Kirklees child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) in the last 18 months?

Kirklees Council are currently collecting information about what people would like to see from the CAMHS service in the future.  This will help us to review what CAMHS are currently providing and what they will be asked to provide in the future

The short survey can be found at www.kirklees.gov.uk/camhssurvey and takes about 15 minutes to complete.  We’d really like to know your views about what is important to you.

The survey was jointly designed with PCAN and other relevant organisations/groups. Please note that it is solely aimed at children with SEND, but at any child or young person who may use the services. So please share the link with anyone who may have used the service in the past 18 months – THANKS!
