Parent training programme for ADHD
Dear Parent,
The extensively researched Nice (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) stress that parent training and support is fundamental to the treatment and management of ADHD. With this in mind we are pleased to announce the launch of our new ADHD parental training programme. This programme aims to equip you to have a high understanding of the psychology of ADHD in order to provide Therapeutic management and support to your child. The aim is to guide you so that you can be confident in advocating for and participating in your Childs treatment.
The programme will cover the following topics: What is ADHD?, management of ADHD, parental support and looking after yourself, communication, praise culture, limit setting, effective behaviour management, emotional literacy, independence, managing school issues, and medication issues.
This programme is suitable for parents of ADHD children up to and including school year Five.
The programme is eight weeks in duration and will take place as follows:

Thursday 22nd March 2012
TIME: 9.30 until 12.00 noon
VENUE: Sure Start, 2nd Floor, Brian Jackson Centre, New North Parade, Huddersfield,HD1 5JP
COURSE FACILITATORS: Mike Still (Specialist Nurse ADHD) and Carol Smith (ADHD assistant)
Tea and coffee will be provided during the morning.

Numbers are limited to 20 parents so will be booked on a first come first served basis. However if as we suspect, the course is oversubscribed Lynsey will hold a waiting list for subsequent courses.
