PCAN’s new Participation Guide, written with Icarus to help services involve and communicate more effectively with parents, has had a successful trial run. The Learning Disability Nursing Team from the NHS worked with Icarus and one of the PCAN trustees to think about how they would consult parents who may have training and support needs at home. This could lead to new training being available, based on parents concerns, for parents of children with learning disabilities. The new Guide is a step by step aide to planning good participation, and will hopefully help more services to make sure their involvement of parents is of a high quality.
