Fibromyalgia is a long-term (chronic) condition that causes widespread pain in the muscles, tendons and ligaments. It’s quite common – it’s thought that as many as 1 person in every 25 may be affected.
More women than men are affected and the condition varies a great deal from one person to another and from day to day. Children and young people can be affected too, exhibiting symptoms such as widespread pain, specific ‘tender’ points on the body, sleep problems, gastrointestinal problems and problems with memory or concentration.
