Have your say about short break activities!

Forthcoming consultation:

Kirklees Disabled Children’s Service have asked PCAN to plan consultation events so that they can gather views from parents about the current and future short breaks programme. These will take place on:

Monday 13thMay 7 pm to 9.30 pm at Northorpe Hall, Northorpe Lane Mirfield WF14 0QL

And

Saturday 18th May 10 am to 12.30 pm at Highfields, Cemetary Road, Edgerton, Huddersfield HD1 5NF

What do we mean by short break activities?

The aim of a short break is to give parents some time off from their carer role and at the same time  give a  child/young person with additional needs the chance to have fun. Activities vary and can last from a couple of hours to a few days depending on the type of provision and the needs of the young person and their family. Examples include visiting a local youth club or sports club, or a morning spent at an activity during school holidays. The qualifying age range is 8 to 25 years.  Assessment by the Kirklees Disabled Children’s Service is not needed for young people to be able to take part in many of our short break activities.

Whether or not your child has attended any of the short breaks currently available, you are welcome to come along and share your views – they are really important.
