At PCAN we understand that as our children with additional needs get older, our worries can increase. We plan for their education and schooling, their health needs, future education and work prospects. We want them to have access to all areas of life, be involved, included and accepted just like any other child. We want our children to have hopes and aspirations and we strive hard to ensure that we get nothing but the best for them regardless of the challenges ahead. Then suddenly, they are growing up and we have to start thinking about when they might leave home. Not everyone will leave but many will, and for some it’s what they want to do. For some of us who are getting older, we have to make a decision about the future.
It’s a really tough time. So we have asked Gary Wainwright and his team from Kirklees Council to come and talk to us about what options are available. We have arranged two events and these will give you chance to see what’s out there, chat about it, ask questions, and explore your hopes, fears and ambitions with other families in the same position.
